While the focus of the volleyball public was on our pioneers, who played brilliantly at the qualifying tournament in Bulgaria, our internationals had notable performances across Europe.
Saške Đurović was particularly impressive, as she led Sporting to two victories in two days with a spectacular individual performance for a middle blocker. First, the team from the Portuguese capital defeated Colegio in the Cup 3:1, and in that match Đurović won 15 points, eight of which were from the block, writes Odbojka.me.
The next day, our national team player was even better - she scored 18 points in Sporting's triumph over Avense, also in four sets. The former Red Star player recorded five aces and won eight points from the attack, with a 50% conversion rate.
It was Sporting's 13th win in 16 rounds of the Portuguese First Division, keeping them in step with city rivals Benfica. They face Porto in the quarter-finals of the Cup.
Experienced goaltender Nikoleta Perović also scored in double figures last week, contributing 14 points to her Ted Kolejliler's 3-1 victory over Gaziantep, their direct rival in the Turkish First League playoff race. After 16 rounds, the Ankara team is in fourth place, with a score of 10-5, with a match more than fifth-placed Gaziantep and third-placed Ilbank.
Our Danijela Džaković scored one point less than her long-time teammate from the national team over the weekend. Her 13 points were significant in Mili Aviasije's 3:0 triumph over Azeraila.
Nevena Vukčević and her GEN-I volley suffered defeats in the opening round of the Slovenian championship. OTP Banka beat the team from Nova Gorica 3:0, and in that match our representative won nine points, while in the weekend's defeat to Calcit after four sets she played in the final two parts of the match and won five points.
Another Montenegrin middle blocker celebrated last weekend. Katarina Budrak scored seven points in Bordeaux's 3-0 away win over Terville-Florence in the 17th round of the French championship, which resumed after two months. It was Bordeaux's seventh victory, having defeated Le Cannet in the round of XNUMX of the Coupe de France a few days earlier.
The Serbian Super League has also resumed, with three representatives this year. Staša Mitrović had a more than successful debut for Jedinstvo, who beat Spartak 3:0 in Stara Pazova. The former member of Budva won five points in her first match with Montenegrin coach Jovo Caković's team.
In the 13th round of the Serbian Super League, the rest of our national team lost. Darja Popović played only in the second set of Omaldinca's away game at Ub. The home team won 3:0, Popović won a point.
Lara Jovović did not get any minutes in the duel between Srem and Železničar, which went to the guests 3:1.
Sen Benedek is having a tough season, still without a win in the Hungarian championship. In the last, 13th round of the Extraliga, Marija Šušić's team lost to Vašaš 3:0, and our coach won two points.
