The Secretary General of the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro, Ivan Bošković, participated in the first plenary meeting of the newly established European Volleyball Commission (EVC), which was held on Tuesday at the European Volleyball headquarters in Luxembourg.
This is a meeting that opens a new chapter in the history of the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV), as the EVC has united the former European Cup Commission (ECC) and the European Sports Competitions Organisation Commission (ESOC).
Driven by a great passion for volleyball and a desire to work for the good of the sport, EVC members identified measures to improve and optimize the CEV competition portfolio and exchanged ideas and views on how to best enhance the CEV Champions League, which remains a unique and valuable resource for the entire European volleyball community.
At the same time, EVC analyzed proposals for improving the competitive path of younger volleyball players in order to facilitate their smooth transition to senior categories and provide opportunities for developing their skills, enabling them to gradually but surely pursue and achieve their goals in professional careers.
Regarding representative competitions for senior teams, discussions focused on ideas for optimizing the current volleyball system, with a particular emphasis on qualifications for the CEV European Championships and the CEV European League.
“Our meeting was very productive, and I am particularly pleased with the diversity of profiles of our members, who bring a huge wealth of knowledge and expertise gained through work in clubs and national federations,” said EVC President Libencio Conti. “Of course, some ideas and projects will require more time for further elaboration and implementation, but this was a good start and we are on the right track. Our work will continue through different working groups, with members divided into smaller units, each with a clearly defined focus and specific areas of work. I am convinced that the future of European volleyball is bright,” concluded Conti.
