The Montenegrin men's U18 national team will be the first representative of our volleyball team at a MEVZA tournament. The selection of players born in 2006 and younger will compete at the Central European Volleyball Zonal Association (MEVZA) tournament, which will be held in Zadar from March 13 to 16, and after today's draw, our team learned the names of its rivals in Dalmatia.
Our young volleyball players will play in Group A with the Croatian team Ribola Kaštele, Kecskemet Junior Sport from Hungary and the team SŠŠ Voleybal Trenčin from Slovakia. Group B of the men's tournament includes the Czech Brno, Israeli Ramat Aviv and Hungarian Penzugi.
In the women's volleyball competition, the Croatian teams Olimpik and CRO team, the Cypriot teams Lemesos and Apollon Limassol, the Czech Olimp from Prague, the Hungarian Bekescsabai, the Slovak Nitra, and the Israeli Ramat will also have representatives in the women's tournament.
The director of the MEVZA league, Frane Zanić, expressed his satisfaction that the project of a club championship at the European level will be realized:
"I am delighted that we have launched the Club Championship for junior teams from all nine MEVZA member countries, with the addition of Montenegro, which will have representatives at the first tournament in Zadar. I hope that in the future we will organize more such competitions at the level of the European Volleyball Federation," said Zanić, adding that the tournament will be attended by guests from European and world volleyball federations, and praised Croatia as an excellent host for such an important competition.
After the draw, the match schedule was also determined, according to which Montenegro will open the tournament with a duel with Ribola Kaštela, at 11.30:15 am, and on the first day of the competition they will also play with Trenčín. A day later, they will conclude the group stage with a match with Kecskemet, and on March 16, the semi-finals are planned, in which the two best teams from each group will participate. On the last day of the tournament, March XNUMX, the matches for placement will be played, which means that Montenegrin volleyball players will have at least four quality matches waiting for them.
The first participation of Montenegrin teams in the MEVZA Championship marks a big step forward and an opportunity for our young talents to gain international experience and demonstrate their quality on the regional stage.
