The medal matches at the Final Four in Zagreb ended the MEVZA League season, and the tournament host at the “Bojan Stranić” Volleyball Center had a mediocre performance.
Mladost's volleyball players, along with Montenegrin national team member Simona Petranović, won the regional competition for the first time in history, while Mladost's volleyball players, including Đorđe Jovović and Nikola Đurović, were unable to pull off another surprise in a duel with the league favorite, ACH Volley from Ljubljana.
The women's final, as expected, brought a lot of uncertainty. Mladost defeated Slovenian Kalcit Kamnik 3:2 (25:20, 10:25, 25:19, 22:25, 19:17) and made history, as they won the MEVZA league for the first time. It was a rematch for the loss in last year's final, and Simona played in the first two sets and won one point. In the spectacular final, Kalcit missed the opportunity to win a record, fifth title in the Central European Volleyball Zonal Association competition. And the bronze remains in Zagreb, as Dinamo was better than Maribor 3:1.
That's why the Slovenian representative in the men's competition returned to the throne and continued his dominance with the 13th cup. ACH Volley was convincing against Mladost 3:0 (27:25, 25:17, 25:22), and the Zagreb team did not succeed in what it did two weeks ago in the league part of the season, in which it was better 3:2. In the first big final in the new team, Đorđe Jovović was the second most efficient player with eight points, Nikola Đurović played in two sets and won a point. Third place went to Maribor, which also defeated the Austrian Zadruga 3:0.
Starting next season, Montenegrin volleyball clubs will also have the right to participate in the MEVZA league.
