The Montenegrin U18 men's volleyball team successfully opened the MEVZA tournament in Zadar with two convincing wins, securing a place in the semifinals. On Saturday, they will face the last match of the group stage, in which they will fight for first place in the group.
Coach Dejan Radić's team first defeated the Croatian team Ribola Kaštela with a score of 3:0 (25:20, 25:18, 25:20), and then they celebrated with the same score against Trenčín from Slovakia – 25:21, 27:25, 25:20.
In both matches, Montenegrin volleyball players showed fighting spirit and played at a high level. Against Ribola Kaštela, they gained an early advantage and calmly brought the match to an end, while the second duel saw a slightly bigger fight. The Slovak team managed to threaten, especially in the second set, but our young volleyball players remained calm and ended the match in their favor.
Luka Lojić was one of the most outstanding players, scoring 15 points in the first match and 14 in the second. Vuk Stanojević was also great, scoring 13 points in the first match, while in the second he was the most efficient with 16 points. Vasilije Milenković also made a notable contribution with 12 points in the first match and Jovan Drešić, who scored 10 points in the second match.
Montenegro will play the last match of the group stage against the Hungarian team Kecskemet on Saturday at 14 p.m., in the fight for first place in the group.
