The last round of the EPCG Super League brought a lot of excitement and a twist that decided the standings before the play-offs. Luka Bar defeated Buducnost in the derby after five sets and secured second place, while Herceg Novi, as expected, concluded the league part at the top of the table with a triumph in Bijelo Polje. Albatros celebrated against Budva after a turnaround, and Gimnazijalac secured survival with a victory over Galeb. The last match of the round between Akademija and Morača will decide who goes to the play-off, as well as the play-off pairs of the EPCG Super League for women's volleyball.
The epithet derby fully justified the duel in Bar, where Luka Bar defeated Buducnost after five sets and took second place in the standings with a score of 16-2. The “Sirens” celebrated with a score of 19:25, 25:13, 25:15, 28:30, 15:7. With this victory, Luka Bar joined Herceg Novi in the semi-finals of the playoffs, while they will find out their opponent after the play-in matches. Buducnost finished the league part of the competition in third place (15-3), and this is their first defeat in the second part of the championship. The winning team's best game was played by Dijana Vukovic with 24 points. Teodora Čavić scored 16, while middle blockers Aieska Ferreira and Tijana Kruta added 11 each. Captain Dušanka Petrović also scored in double figures with 10 points. For Buducnost, Kristina Božović was the most efficient with 13 points, while Lana Rakočević scored one less. Mileva Magdelinić recorded 11 and Sara Belojević 10 points.
An exciting match was also played in Budva at the opening of the last round, Albatros celebrated against the home team after a turnaround with the score 3:2 (20:25, 23:25, 25:13, 25:16, 15:10). Although they lost, Budva won a point that currently brings them fifth place ahead of Morača, but the Podgorica team can return to that position if they defeat Academy in Tivat on Monday. The team from Novalja remained in fourth place with a score of 10-8. The best player in the winning team was Marija Tuševljak with 23 points, followed by Amina Music with 17 and Viktorija Položevets with 16 points. In the ranks of Budva, notable games were played by Vanja Matunović and Elena Čolaković with 23 points each.
Herceg Novi volleyball players celebrated in Bijelo Polje against Jedinstvo 3:0 (25:20, 25:20, 25:20), as expected, finishing the league part of the EPCG Super League in first place with 17 wins and only one loss to Buducnost. This position brings them a direct place in the semifinals and home field advantage in the playoffs. Jedinstvo now awaits the outcome of the match between Akademija and Morača to find out whether they have won survival or will continue the fight for a place in the elite in the play-offs. The Novi team was led to victory by Žeraldin Gonzales with 16 points and Gordana Madžgalj with 12, while Ivana Šebek was the most efficient player in the Jedinstvo team with 13 points.
The high school team secured their survival in the league with a 3:1 (25:17, 25:22, 22:25, 25:13) victory over Galeb, with six victories this season. The key role in this victory was played by Matea Kovačec, who excelled with 30 points, her teammate Tiane De Souza Felix scored 17. On the other hand, in the Galeb team, which will play in a lower league next season, Natalija Vlaović was the best with 15 points.
Akademija and Morača will meet on Monday at SD “Župa” in Tivat, starting at 18 pm. Akademija needs any victory to stay in the league, while a defeat would mean Jedinstvo remains in the quiet zone. A win would see Morača regain fifth place in the standings.
