Several Montenegrin national team players had phenomenal scoring games last weekend. Jovović stood out in particular, while Strugar, Bojić and Ćinćur did not help their teams win with their great individual games.
Bojan Strugar and Craiova failed to break into the semi-final series of the Romanian championship playoffs. They lost to Corona in Brasov 3:1 (24:26, 25:16, 25:19, 25:21) on the road, even though they took the lead and had the best scorer of the match. Our corrector won as many as 25 points, with 50% of successful attacks, which the host team nullified with an excellent team performance. The return match in Craiova will be played on Friday.
Đorđe Jovović also had a great game, and was in a great mood for Mladost's new victory. In the 17th triumph in as many rounds in the Croatian Super League, which the defending champion achieved against Varaždin 3:1, our national team player had 28 points. Young middle blocker Nikola Đurović did not play in the penultimate round, and together with his teammates, he will conclude the regular season of the championship with a visit to Rijeka.
Ribola Kaštela, led by our volleyball player Vukašin Cimbaljević, came one step away from winning second place. They defeated Split away 3:0, and Cimbaljević finished the match with seven points.
Middle blocker Srđan Petrović was also successful in the penultimate round of the league, as he and his Marsonia defeated Sisak 3:0 and secured fifth place in the standings, one round before the playoffs.
With a seven-game losing streak that began in early February, Turšad, led by our serve receiver Marko Bojić, was eliminated from Turkey's top league. The defeat in the final round was inevitable, as the Ankara team faced the absolute leader of the Efeler League, Zirat Banka, who won in three sets, and Bojić scored 17 points against the winner of three of the last five titles, with 57% attack success.
Matija Ćinćura's good game also did not bring victory to Alpaca Kanal, who lost to Kalcit 3:2 in the 10th round of the second round of the Slovenian championship. In a defeat that did not disrupt the plans of the team from western Slovenia, as it had already secured second place in the standings, our middle blocker had as many as 14 points. Ćinćura and his teammates will face a doubleheader against Pomgrad in the quarterfinals of the 1st DOL league playoffs.
An important victory was achieved by Montenegrin corrector Milutin Pavićević, together with his team Karađorđe, in the fight for fifth place in the Serbian Super League. In the penultimate, 21st round of the league part of the championship, Karađorđe defeated Spartak 3:0, and our national team player won 11 points. The team from Topola thus took fifth place before the match with fourth-placed Dubočica, from which it has two wins less. In order to stay in fifth place, Karađorđe must win or wait for Partizan to lose in the derby with Red Star.
The red and whites were better than last-placed Ribnica 21:3 in the 1st round, so our coach Ivica Jevtić's team is behind Radnički and Vojvodina in winning.
The season finale is in the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Our Jovan Delić's team Domaljevac easily defeated Ljubinje in the first game of the quarterfinals of the playoffs, 3:0, and Delić played in the two opening sets and won three points.
In Qatar, Al Sadd, coached by our coach Marko Joksimović, lost in the derby of the lower half of the local championship table to Al Gharafa, 3:2. Joksimović played throughout the game and won two points.
Coach Darko Prebiracevic's team is in excellent form, having won their fifth consecutive game – beating the penultimate Al Kor 3:0 and coming within a point of second-placed Al Wakra, who are on a three-game losing streak. Leading Al Rajan have 16 wins after 17 games.
