Several Montenegrin volleyball players excelled last weekend. Danijela Džaković was at a high level again in Azerbaijan, our middle blockers Teodora Rakočević and Saška Đurović had great games, Simona Petranović and Mladost were left without the Croatian Cup trophy. Competitions across Europe are entering the finals.
Zagreb's Mladost failed to defend its Cup title. It was defeated by Ribola Kaštela 3:1 in the final in Sisak, in which Simona Petranović scored four points. The Croatian champion's volleyball team will conclude the first part of the Super League with a match against Ribola Kaštela, and then, as one of the teams that won a direct place in the play-off semi-finals, will wait for their rival in the playoffs.
Danijela Džaković was a key figure in her team's big victory over Mili Avijasi, who defeated Azerail 3:2. Our national team player scored 20 points and was once again the leader of the Azerbaijani team.
Saška Đurović was in a great mood in another match that brought five sets, and together with her teammates from Sporting, they reached the semi-finals of the play-offs of the Portuguese championship. The "Lions" were better than Fiaes in the second leg, which was significantly more difficult away, 3:2, and Đurović won 11 points. Sporting's rival will be the winner of the master match between Braga and Klub Kairoša, which will be played tomorrow. The other semi-final pair of the Portuguese 1st Division is made up of Benfica and Porto.
The regular season of League A has ended in France, in the play-offs of which our Katarina Budrak's Bordeaux will play against the defending champion, the Levallois team. In the last round of the league part of the championship, Bordeaux was defeated by the leader in the table, 3:0, and as eighth place, they grabbed the last ticket to the playoffs. In the match of the 26th round, Budrak won eight points. The quarter-final series starts on April 5 and is played until three wins.
Montenegrin middle blocker Teodora Rakočević had a brilliant game, leading Banja Luka to the semifinals of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Premier League playoffs with a stellar 15 points. Her team beat Igman 3:0, and will face Borac in the semifinals.
The quarterfinals of the Slovenian championship have also begun, in which Nevena Vukčević is playing. Her team GEN-I Volley was defeated away to Luka Koper 3:1, and will seek to continue the season in the second leg in Nova Gorica. In the first match of the opening playoff series, Nevena Vukčević had nine points.
Mina Dragović and Lugoša volleyball team will play for fifth place in the Romanian championship, after they were safe against Targoviste in the first round of the playoff for the place, without dropping a set. In the return match away, Mina Dragović won eight points. Lugoša will face Constanta, which eliminated Rapid from Bucharest.
The pairings for the Serbian Super League playoff, in which Montenegrin volleyball will have three representatives, have been announced. Jedinstvo from Stara Pazova ended its seven-game winning streak in the last round of the regular season of the Super League, after being defeated away to the leader in the standings, Železničar 3:0. In the ranks of the team coached by Montenegrin senior women, Jovo Caković, our young middle blocker Staša Mitrović won a point in two sets on the court. Jedinstvo's rival, who won sixth place in the standings, in the quarterfinals of the playoff will be the Uba team.
Fifth place in the standings went to Srem, who concluded the league part of the championship with a 3:0 victory over Omladinac, eliminating them to a lower tier of the competition. In the ranks of the defeated team, young Montenegrin Darja Popović won three points, while Lara Jovović did not receive any minutes in the Srem team, which will play against Crvena zvezda in the quarterfinals of the playoffs.
