Herceg Novi volleyball team defends the Montenegrin Cup

Herceg Novi volleyball team defended the Montenegrin Cup trophy.

Herceg Novi defeated Luka Bar 3:1 (25:21, 18:25, 25:18 and 25:15) in the final match today in Budva.

He won his third consecutive trophy after an hour and 32 minutes of play.

Srđan Crnojački's team managed to win their second trophy of the season, after winning the Super Cup in Nikšić in September.

Captain Ralitsa Vasileva and her teammates showed determination and quality, even though they had a great team from Luka Bar on the other side of the net. This was their fourth matchup of the season, and the Novalja team achieved all four victories.

The first set was an even fight, but the team from Novalja managed to break away with the score 22:19, as well as 23:20, which gave them the lead and the final score of 25:21 in the first set. The team from Bar fought back in the second set, taking the lead with 11:8, and then 15:10, and controlling the second half of the game. Thanks to Dijana Vuković's great serves, Luka Bar won the second set with the score 25:18.

The start of the third set was uncertain (11:11), but the team from Novi soon gained a significant advantage of 22:16, and ended it with a score of 25:18 and a 2:1 lead. On the wings of the third set, Herceg Novi managed to win the fourth, thus recording a 3:1 victory.

Luka Bar has not won the Cup trophy since 2017, and won it seven times (2007, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2017).

Herceg Novi was led to the new trophy by Anamarija Galić with 19 points, Daria Čabonenko added 14, Anđelka Radišković 13, and Ralitsa Vasileva 11 points. In the Luka Bar team, the best was Dijana Vuković with 17 points, while Teodora Čavić and Tijana Kruta recorded 10 and 9 points, respectively.
