Several Montenegrin volleyball players played a significant role in their teams' championship finals. Danijela Džaković was particularly effective this weekend, and our middle blockers, Saška Đurović and Katarina Budrak, played excellent games in Portugal and France.
Daniela's fantastic 29 points were not enough for her team Mili Avijazija to beat Murov at home 3:2, however, by defeating Uneco, she and her teammates secured a place in the semi-finals of the Azerbaijan Championship playoffs. In the playoff for the final, up to two wins, the Montenegrin serve receiver and her team will play against Azerail.
In the Portuguese championship, Sporting is facing a big battle with Braga in the semi-finals of the play-offs, and the decisive, fifth game is scheduled for Thursday. During the previous week, Sporting managed to break 3:1 and win the match, after being defeated at home in five sets. In both games, Saška Đurović was at a high level and won 10 points each.
Her national team partner, Katarina Budrak, also had great performances against the French champions, Levallois. However, her Bordeaux managed only one victory in the quarter-final series against the team from Paris, which they defeated 3:2 at home. In that match, Katarina won as many as 13 points, and in the decisive match, 3:1, Budrak had 10 points.
In the Croatian Super League, the Zagreb final, after Mladost easily defeated Brda away, 3:1, so Simona Petranović's team will play for the cup against Dinamo. Our national team player did not get minutes in the second leg of the playoff semi-final.
Teodora Rakočević did not make it to the finals, as her team from Banja Luka lost at home to city rivals Borac in the second leg of the semi-final of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Premier League playoff. In the last match of the season, our middle blocker scored five points.
Lugoš, Mina Dragović's team, won fifth place in Romania, after defeating the Constanta team 3:2 in the last game of the season, in which our volleyball player did not enter the court.
