Montenegrin volleyball players continue to leave a strong mark on the international scene, excelling in the finals of national championships. Although they failed to reach the finals this time, their games were more than notable. Danijela Džaković won a bronze medal in the Azerbaijan championship, while Saška Đurović played excellently in the Portuguese championship, but unfortunately failed to reach the finals. Simona Petranović is fighting for the first cup of the season with the Croatian team Mladost.
Our national team member Danijela Džaković won third place in the Azerbaijan Championship with the team of Mili Avijasi. In the two-match “consolation” final, her team was better than the Gence team, winning 3:1 and 3:2 in sets. Džaković was one of the key figures in the team’s success, with 22 points won in the first and 18 points in the second game. In the fight for a place in the final, her team was defeated by Azerail after a great fight, and the journey to the final, after two games, was decided by the “golden set”. Džaković was up to the task then too, with 14 and 21 points, respectively, but unfortunately that was not enough to advance to the final.
International Saška Đurović was also close to the final of the Portuguese championship, but her Sporting team was defeated by Braga in the decisive match with a score of 3:1. Đurović scored seven points in that match. In the fight for third place, Sporting plays with Porto, and in the first match Đurović dominated with 21 points won. She played fantastically, achieving 60% success from the attack, of which 5 points from the block, 15 points from the attack and one ace.
Another Montenegrin national team player is in the finals of the domestic championship with her team. In the finals of the Croatian championship, Simona Petranović with the Mladost team has a mediocre performance after two games played. The Zagreb team won convincingly at home, but then were defeated on the road by the Dinamo team, also with a score of 3:0. Petranović did not appear in these matches.
