Only one match remains until the end of the season for Montenegrin volleyball players abroad and it will decide the winner of third place in the Portuguese women's volleyball championship. The Croatian and Slovenian leagues ended last week, and our representatives stood on the last step. In Azerbaijan, Danijela Džaković was named the best forward of the league.
Mladost volleyball players failed to win the championship of the final series of the Croatian Super League playoffs with the Murska team, and the last two matches were more than exciting. The Zagreb team first won the first match of the final at home in five sets, led by our corrector Đorđe Jovović, who scored 20 points. The other Montenegrin national team player in the Mladost jersey, Nikola Đurović, finished the match with five points, and together with his teammates he had to lend a hand to his rival, who celebrated 3:2 at home and won the title, which ended Mladost's dominance in the last four seasons. In the last match, Jovović scored as many as 30 points, Đurović four.
Our other representative middle blocker who plays in the neighborhood could not reach the trophy either – Matija Ćinćur and Alpacem Kanal were far from sensational and ended the series with a 3:0 win against the dominant Slovenian team, ACH Volej. In the last match of the series in Ljubljana, it was 3:1, and Ćinćur had four points in the final game of the playoffs. Alpacem Kanal played the playoffs final after 15 years, and thus achieved a great result, and in the great season of the red-black team, the young Bjelopolje player also stood out.
The season is also over for Qatar Sports, led by Darko Prebiracevic from the bench. His team had a great season, and in the last match of the main stage of the Amir Cup, they were defeated by one of the favorites of the competition, Al Rayyan, with a score of 3:2.
A successful season for Danijela Džaković, in an individual sense, was crowned with the award for the best scorer of the Azerbaijan league. Our experienced national team member and her team Mili Avijasije won third place.
The Zagreb Mladost team will not have the Women's Volleyball Super League trophy in its showcase this season, as Simona Petranović and her teammates handed over the crown to city rivals Dinamo. The final series was 3:1, as Dinamo broke through in five sets to gain an advantage, which they confirmed at home with a 3:0 victory. Our national team player played in the third match of the series and won one point. Mladost was dethroned after seven years.
Portugal will also have new champions, and unfortunately it will not be Saška Đurović's Sporting, as the Lisbon team was eliminated by Braga in the semifinals after five matches. In the battle for third place, Sporting returned the break to the former champion, Porto, winning 3:1 in the second match. Our middle blocker played brilliantly, winning 16 points, and brought her team a masterpiece in the capital of Portugal, which will be played on May 1st.
