The Montenegrin men's volleyball team failed to beat Austria in two test matches in Vienna. In the first game, the host won 3:1 (25:27, 25:17, 26:24, 25:18), while in the second game, Ivica Jevtić's team played much better, leading twice, but dropped the tiebreak by a point – it was 3:2 (15:25, 25:22, 24:26, 25:16, 16:14).
Coach Jevtić gave all the players a chance in the final checks before the start of the Golden League. In the first game, in which, by the coach's agreement, a fifth set was played, which also went to Austria (15:7), the most efficient was Đorđe Jovović with 13 points, Vasilije Milenković won two less, and Matija Ćinćur and Benjamin Hadžisalihović had nine points each.
In the second match, in which our national team played at a higher level and was close to winning, Vukašin Cimbaljević was our team's leading scorer with 18 points, while Vasilije Milenković with 12 and Đorđe Jovović with 10 also scored in double figures.
Our volleyball players will train in Podgorica before their trip to Romania, and in Mioveni they will play against the host of the first CEV Golden League tournament, Romania, and the Latvian national team, on June 6th and 7th, respectively.
After the women's tournament, Podgorica will also host the men's tournament, from June 13th to 15th, when our national team will play against the Czech Republic and Finland, and the third tournament in Strumica will conclude with duels against Israel and North Macedonia, on June 21st and 22nd.
