The second CEV Golden European League tournament will be held in Podgorica, which will host the men's tournament of the prestigious CEV competition after the women's tournament. Montenegrin volleyball players will have regular participants of major competitions, including the upcoming World Championship, the Czech Republic and Finland.
After the opening tournament in Mioveni, Romania, where Ivica Jevtić's team lost to Romania 3:0 and Latvia 3:2, our young team will have their first opportunity to advance in front of their home crowd against the favorites for medals in the Golden League.
The match with the Czech Republic will be played on Friday, June 13th, at 19 pm, and on Sunday at the same time, the "reds" will face Finland, who will play the match with the Czech Republic on Saturday.
The Finns are the leaders in the unified standings, after maximum wins over Slovakia and North Macedonia, while the Czechs played four sets each in a victory over Croatia and a loss to Israel.
"We have two games ahead of us, we play against the Czech Republic and Finland. Against two extremely strong national teams, who will aspire to fight for a medal in the Golden League. It will mean a lot to us, for these young guys to progress. When we play against stronger teams than us, we can progress. It will mean a lot to us when we play against teams that are at our level. I expect the audience to recognize the need to support the national team and the young guys. I hope they will come in as many numbers as possible," said coach Ivica Jevtić.
Compared to the first tournament, middle blocker and the most experienced member of the national team, Luka Babić, will not compete in the games at SC "Verde", as he suffered an injury in Romania, and Buducnost's technician, Danilo Dubak, will have the opportunity to debut in the Golden League.
