The Montenegrin women's volleyball team had a strong start at the European U16 Championship in Pristina, where they outclassed the home team of Kosovo - 3:0 (25:15, 25:12, 25:6).
Petar Koković's team continued their great streak from Slovenia in Pristina, where they achieved all victories without losing a set in the second round of qualifications and became our first volleyball team to qualify for the European Championship from July 2 to 13 in Pristina.
Our pioneers opened the game with a 4:0 lead, gained a five-point advantage early on, and won them in series, led by Klara Đukić and Elena Jovanović. After a five-point streak, the score was 19:8, and the "reds" concluded the set with a double-digit lead, 25:15.
In the second set, our girls took control early on, turning the tables and reaching 5:3, and from the 20th point on, they were wondering about everything on the court at the "Palace of Youth". With a 6:0 run, they gained a double-digit lead for the first time, 18:8, with Mija Pođanin, Sofija Duletić and Jelena Glušac making a big contribution, who, together with their teammates, allowed their rivals only four more points by the end of the set and took a 2:0 lead with 25:12.
Montenegro authoritatively concluded the match – after 15 points in the third set, they had a +7, and ended the game with 13 unanswered points from their rivals, and a phenomenal 25:6. The final set was marked by Staša Jovović and Đina Lekić with six points each, out of their total of nine and seven, respectively, making them the two most efficient scorers in the match.
Coach Koković gave all the players a chance, and they all won at least a point, and along with Jovović and Lekić, Mia Podjanin and Klara Đukić stood out with six points each, while Sofija Duletić, Jelena Glušac and Elena Jovanović each won five points.
The match was attended by the President of the Volleyball Association of Montenegro (OSCG), Nikola Kažić, and the Secretary General of the OSCG, Ivan Bošković, as well as the Ambassador of Montenegro to Pristina, Bernard Čobaj.
Koković's team will face Hungary tomorrow at 15pm, who, like the Czech Republic and Turkey, opened the championship with a maximum victory. The Hungarians defeated Slovenia, Turkey was better than Greece, while the Czech Republic defeated Croatia. The two best teams in the group will secure the semi-finals, which will be played in Tirana, the host city of Group "1", and the six best teams in the tournament will secure a visa for the World Cup.
