The Montenegrin women's volleyball team was defeated by Hungary 3:0 (32:30, 25:16, 25:17) in an official friendly match played in Kolašin.
The duel with the CEV Golden European League finalists was a rehearsal before the final round of the European Championship qualifiers. In agreement between the coaches Caković and Chiapini, a fourth set was played, which Montenegro won 25:21.
Our volleyball players put up the best resistance in the opening set, in which they also had a set point, but the Hungarians turned things around and took the lead in the match after 62 points.
The next two sets saw a much better performance from the team that has participated in every European Championship since 2015. Coach Jovo Caković's team, which could not count on experienced serve receiver Danijela Džaković due to a minor injury, managed to score 16 and 17 points, respectively.
Hungary was also a rival for our volleyball team in the league part of the CEV Golden League, in which they won 3:1 in Kapošvar.
The national team has returned to the team coach Tijana Tvrdišić, as well as the recovered Melisa Cenović and Simona Petranović, while Nikoleta Perović stood out in terms of points, finishing the game with 19 points. She was followed by middle blockers Mina Dragović and Saška Đurović with 11 and nine points, respectively. Simona Petranović and Teodora Čavić each scored three points, while Nevena Vukčević scored one point. For Hungary, Anet Nemet was the most efficient with 23 points.
The duel with Hungary was the only official of three preparatory matches during joint training in Kolašin – the teams played a closed-door match on Thursday, and will face off again on Monday.
Our volleyball players will continue their preparations at the base in Kolašin until August 4, when they will travel to Goražde, where they will play Bosnia and Herzegovina on August 6 in the 3rd round of Group D of the 2026 European Championship qualifiers. In the historic battle for the first place at EuroVolley, the decisive duel with the Latvian team is scheduled for August 10, also in Kolašin.
