Eighteen-year-old Luka Lojić is the most promising Montenegrin volleyball player - he justified the flattering recognition he received in the last days of 2024 last weekend when he was named MVP of the Super Cup match, as one of the most deserving of Buducnost ending Budva's trophy streak.

Everything so far in the career of this 199-centimeter tall corrector from Bar, who grew up in the Galeba volleyball school, is on an upward trajectory. Luka is developing the way a top volleyball player should develop - a Montenegrin national team member, a prototype for the future.

"Winning the Super Cup is no small feat, neither for me nor for the club. Bringing Buducnost the trophy after so many years and winning my first one is an indescribable feeling. I think this is a great start to the season and that we will be even more prepared for the upcoming competitions. Winning individual awards is very important to me, as it is for every young athlete, and it shows me that I am on the right track," says Luka Lojić.

The Podgorica team's triumph in the Super Cup and the end of Budva's dominance heralded a fiery season - in the sporting sense, of course. Everything indicates that the championship race will no longer be a one-way street, as was the case in previous seasons.

"A lot of new things have happened in Buducnost: more ambitions first of all, it is noticeable that the team is much more experienced than last year and we cooperate much better," Luka points out.

A competitive season awaits him in the true sense: the regional MEVZA league, as well as an appearance in the CEV Challenge Cup, will complete the domestic race with the Budva team.

"We have a lot of new challenges ahead of us, entering the regional and European scene. That's a great thing for the club and for us players. A greater number of quality matches can only bring us good. Our goal is to win all the domestic titles and I think we have a chance - we want to bring Buducnost back to the biggest possible stage."

Luka Lojić was part of the Montenegrin national team last summer in the Golden League and in the finals of the European Championship qualifiers.

"Being part of the senior national team is a great honor. I am proud to be part of that team, I think the national team has helped me a lot in my progress and I expect that we will meet again soon."

Qualifying for EuroVolley 2028 is the next big goal for Montenegrin volleyball players and Montenegrin volleyball, and Lojić is, naturally, part of that project.

"We are quite a young team and we have a lot of potential and talented players, that's my opinion. The matches in the Golden League, with strong opponents, have helped us a lot to build ourselves as a team, they helped us to beat Norway at the end of the qualifiers and go into the international break in a good mood and with confidence. I can't wait for the next gathering, I think that through good work we can expect success," says Lojić.

He has been playing the position of point guard ever since he started playing volleyball, and he has no real role model - he follows everyone and builds his own style, blazing his own path.

"I don't have a player I look up to. I watched the recent World Cup, there were a lot of surprises, we saw that many national teams started playing good volleyball."

It is focused on the future, with a small, or maybe even a capital, letter B.

"I don't know where my career will take me next, but I would definitely like to play in one of the best leagues in the world someday."
