The volleyball players of Gimnazijalac, Albatros, Jedinstvo, Morača, Buducnost and Luka Bar justified their role as favorites and recorded convincing victories in the second round of the Montenegrin Cup against their first-league rivals.
The remaining match between Budva and Mrkojević will be played on Monday at 17 pm in Budva.
A big derby awaits us in the quarterfinals, a duel between last year's finalists, Luka Bar and Herceg Novi. The defending champion Herceg Novi, as last year's Cup winner, starts the competition right from the quarterfinals, while the "Sirens" from Bar secured a place among the top eight with a convincing 3:0 victory over Ibar (25:6, 25:4, 25:5).
The most efficient player for Vladimir Milačić's team tonight was Magdalena Kuburović with 12 points. Maša Dragojević added 11, while Selma Muratović and Iva Pepđonović each scored 10.
The high school student was convincing in the away game against Tempo, winning 3:0 (25:11, 25:14, 25:19). Matea Kovačec again had a great game with 19 points, followed by Petra Radusinović with 13. Bojana Lalatović stood out for the home team with 13 points. In the quarterfinals, the Kotor team will host the Morača team.
Morača easily defeated Grebaje with a score of 3:0 (25:8, 25:10, 25:5) and thus advanced to the next round.
In the previous round, the team from Podgorica was better than Barbana, and this time the victory was led by Aleksandra Davidović with 12 and Emilija Čurović with 11 points.
After having a bye in the first round, Albatros defeated Galeb 3:0 in Herceg Novi (25:20, 25:21, 25:18). The winning team's most efficient player was Đurđa Nedeljković with 11 points, while Sara Striković scored 14 for the visitors. In the quarterfinals, the team from Novljanka will face the team from Buducnost.
Buducnost, which also had a bye in the first round, easily defeated Mornar 3:0 (25:16, 25:13, 25:16) in the second round at SC “Verde” in Podgorica for a place in the top eight.
Jedinstvo also secured a place in the quarterfinals, after convincingly defeating Net 3:0 in Podgorica (25:12, 25:15, 25:16). Andrijana Merdović with 18 and Marija Tuševljak with 14 points had excellent performances, while Mia Pođanin scored in double figures for the visitors with 12.
Bijelopolje will find out their quarterfinal opponent on Monday, after the match between Budva and Mrkojević.
The quarter-final matches of the Montenegrin Cup are scheduled for November 19th and 20th.
