The Secretary General of the Volleyball Association of Montenegro (OSCG), Ivan Bošković, participated in the annual plenary meeting of the European Volleyball Commission (EVC), which was held last week at the European Volleyball headquarters in Luxembourg.

The first session was also attended by CEV President Roko Sikirić, who personally highlighted and praised the work achieved so far since the Commission's establishment in the second half of 2024.

One of the key steps forward was the introduction of the renewed CEV European Volleyball League, which will serve as a qualifying route for the CEV EuroVolley 2028 for men's and women's senior national teams from 2026. A record number of national federations – 29 – have applied to participate, raising the value and reputation of the competition to its highest level yet.

The CEV President congratulated the EVC members on the successful completion of this ambitious project, which also contributed to better rationalization of the international calendar and made it easier for federations to plan and implement national selection programs in the medium and long term.

EVC members also reviewed and finalized the CEV European Cup calendar for the 2026/2027 season, which will be forwarded to the CEV Management Board for adoption at its next meeting, scheduled for early March. In addition, the future of the junior competitions was discussed, with a particular focus on optimizing the competition dates and formats, both in the qualifiers and the final rounds, starting in 2027.

Overall, the meeting was considered extremely productive, with the interests of national federations at the center of all discussions, while CEV continues to devise measures that will enable the sustainable development of volleyball and provide an opportunity for all members and stakeholders to actively participate in this positive process.
