The Government of Montenegro has given its consent to the Volleyball Federation, in accordance with the Law on Sports, to organize the European Senior Championship in September 2028.
"I am proud to have developed and strongly supported the aforementioned idea at a joint meeting a year ago in the Government of Montenegro, with the President of the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) Roko Sikirić, the President of the Montenegrin Volleyball Federation Nikola Kažić, the President of the Croatian Volleyball Federation Frane Žanić, and the Secretary General of the Serbian Volleyball Federation and First Vice President of the CEV Ivan Knežević," said Deputy Prime Minister Aleksa Bečić.
Montenegro is well on its way to being one of the four countries that will organize Eurovolley 2028, and an official application should be expected next month.
It was mentioned that Serbia and Croatia would also apply for hosting, and Latvia is also interested.
"Sport unites and shows how bridges of cooperation are built and how we look to the future together. We hope for a positive outcome regarding the candidacy and the awarding of the host by the European Federation, which would enable Podgorica to host the largest European volleyball competition in 2028," Bečić emphasized.
