EPCG Women's Volleyball Super League: Herceg Novi and Luka Bar in a new battle for the cup

The volleyball teams of Herceg Novi and Luka Bar have advanced to the finals of the EPCG Super League. Both teams finished the playoff semi-final series in two matches each, Baranka with victories over Buducnost, and Novljanka in the city derby with Albatros.

After a phenomenal match in Bar, which ended in a tie-break, the rematch between Buducnost and Luka Bar brought less excitement. The “Sirens” were quite confident in Podgorica and celebrated 3:0 (25:16, 25:15, 25:15) and in less than an hour made a break worthy of returning to the final. One of the best games of the season was played by Dijana Vuković, who led Vladimir Milačić’s team to victory with 20 points. Former Buducnost player Anđela Kukobat scored in double figures with 12 points, and Aleksandra Šćekić scored two less, while Teodora Čavić contributed with eight. Eight volleyball players from Buducnost scored in double figures, but none of them reached double figures – the most efficient was Dijana Crnojački with seven points, Mileva Magdelinić won five, and Lana Rakočević and Anastasija Koprivica scored four each.

Herceg Novi defeated Albatros 3:1 (25:13, 26:24, 21:25, 25:14) in four sets and after an interesting fight, especially in the second and third parts of the match, and secured the final for the fourth season in a row. A very interesting 90 minutes of volleyball in SC "Igalo" brought uncertainty in the middle two sets, but Marko Radusinović's girls opened and closed the game authoritatively. Tatjana Bokan was particularly inspired with 22 points, and Brooke Dexter played a great game with 17. Gordana Madžgalj contributed with 10 points to the victory. For Albatros, Anđela Stojković scored 15 points, Đurđa Nedeljković won 13, and Amina Music scored nine.

The start of the final series, in which Herceg Novi, as the winner of the first place in the league part of the championship, will have the advantage of home court, is planned for next weekend. The champion of Montenegro will be the team that first achieves three victories. Herceg Novi is a three-time consecutive national champion, and Luka Bar holds the record with 12 trophies. The league matches this season were won by the team from Novi, as well as the quarter-final match of the Cup, while Luka Bar won in the fight for the Super Cup trophy.
