Montenegrin volleyball players performed with mixed emotions in Europe last week. Danijela Džaković suffered a particularly hard defeat, as she, despite a phenomenal individual performance, was eliminated in the semifinals of the Azerbaijan League after winning the golden set. Our middle blockers Saška Đurović and Mina Dragović were successful, while the youth team of Staša Mitrović and Kristine Vukčević scheduled playoff matches for entry into the Serbian Super League.
Danijela Džaković was once again the best player of Mili Aviasi, but she failed to push her team over the line. After losing 3:0 in the first match of the semi-finals against the DH Volley team, Džaković and her teammates defeated their home rivals 3:2, thus winning the golden set, in which they lost 15:12. Danijela finished the match as the most efficient player, scoring 30 points. Her team expects to fight for third place until the end of the season.
Saška Đurović had a bigger team success in the semifinals of the Portuguese championship, as her Porto got revenge on Benfica for their defeat at the start of the playoffs. Porto celebrated in Lisbon 3:0, with two points from our middle blocker, and on Wednesday they will welcome their big rival in the third match of the series, which is played until three wins.
Katarina Budrak and her Bordeaux team ended the season in Mulhouse. After winning the first match, they were defeated in the next two away matches, in the first match in five sets, then 3:0 in the final. Our national team player had two good games, winning seven points, then nine in the third duel.
Mina Dragović also had a very good game, and her Dubrovnik came within a step of staying in the Croatian Super League. In the first playoff match against the second-place winner of the First League, Olimpik, Dubrovnik celebrated 3:0 with seven points for the Montenegrin team. The rematch is scheduled for Saturday.
TENT, whose member is Anastasija Bogojević, has reached the final of the Serbian Super League after defeating Železničar 3:0. The second semi-final could be more uncertain, as Ub defeated Jedinstvo coached by Jov Caković in the first match 3:1.
Omladinac, the team of our young volleyball players Kristina Vukčević and Staša Mitrović, will fight for a return to the Super League, having secured a playoff spot before the end of the round. In the last match of the league season, Omladinac was defeated by Volej Star 3:2, as the host, and a series with Spartak from Subotica awaits them for the remaining place in the elite. Next season, Cro-bele, whose member is Vanja Matunović, will play again in the First League. In the last round, the Partizan branch defeated Borac from Čačak 3:0 and finished the season in fifth place.
