Two wins in one day! The Montenegrin women's volleyball team, in a similar way to the men's volleyball team, achieved their first victory in the new edition of the European League. They defeated Georgia in Bar 3:1 (25:21, 17:25, 25:14, 25:13) and celebrated a successful conclusion to the first CEV tournament held at SC "Topolica".
Jovo Caković's team was confident in front of the Bar crowd, with a slight drop in play in the second set, and did not allow for surprises. It was the same in the first set, in which our team showed off when it mattered most and turned the score from 18:20 to 25:20 with a 6:0 run, using the second set point to take the lead.
Our team, which played with a slightly changed lineup in the second match in Bar, needed to find the right rhythm. The guests took advantage of this and won the first set of the tournament with 25:17, to which Nikoleta Perović and her teammates responded even more convincingly.
They opened the third set with a 6:1 lead and played dominantly, winning it with a maximum +11 – 25:14. When they put things in their place, they played much more relaxed and dictated the course of almost every point. They concluded the match with a convincing 25:13 and made a real overture to the second tournament in Romania.
Caković gave minutes to a large number of players, and the main players were two Baran players – captain Nikoleta Perović scored 17 points, Simona Petranović 14, as did middle blocker Mina Dragović, and another tall Podgorica player scored in double figures – Saška Đurović, who finished the match with 11. Magda Kobaidze scored 14 points for Georgia.
The next destination is the Romanian volleyball center Blaž, where on Saturday, June 13, Albania will be the rival, and the tournament host the day after, while our volleyball players will play the final matches in the European League in Pristina, against Kosovo and Hungary on June 19 and 20, respectively.
