Montenegro defeated Austria, Jevtić: This is no coincidence

The Montenegrin volleyball team ended the first weekend of the European League with a victory against Austria (3:1) in Schwechat yesterday.

Our team achieved its first triumph, having been defeated by Finland (3:1) at the start of the Europa League.

"I congratulate my boys on a great game. This is a big win for us. Last year we lost 3-0 to this team in friendly matches. I mention this because what happened now is no coincidence. The boys worked really hard and this is a reward for them," said coach Ivica Jevtić after the match against Austria.

The coach reflected on the match against Finland.

"I'm glad we managed to rise after yesterday's defeat to Finland. The game against such a serious opponent certainly helped us to play at this level," concluded the coach.

Montenegro's next match is on Friday, June 12, when they will play Portugal in Porto, and a day later they will play against the Latvian national team.

"We played two excellent games. The fruits of two years of work are finally visible and I hope that we will continue at this pace in the Europa League and at the European Championship, which will be played here in two years," said national team player Matija Ćinćur.
