Montenegrin volleyball players failed to pull off a surprise at the opening of the second European League tournament hosted by the Portuguese city of Matosinhos – it was 3:0 (25:16, 25:19, 25:14) for Portugal, who controlled things on the court and deservedly won.
Our national team's serve, which was a serious weapon in Austria, did not work, while Portugal's serve was at a high level, especially the block, which made the difference.
Coach Jevtić was trying to find the right lineup, using sets to give younger players a chance, and our guys had a hard time making mini-series, which the rival punished.
In the end, Milutin Pavićević with eight and Đorđe Jovović with five, won by Matija Ćinćur, were the best scorers for the Montenegrin national team, while the Portuguese tandem Ferreira – Pereira collected 23 points, and middle blockers Cvetićanin and Semedo won nine each.
The opportunity to improve the impression is today, starting at 18 pm, when Montenegro's rival will be the Latvian team.
