Montenegrin juniors are playing the quarter-final match at the World Cup tonight, a match that actors in major competitions often say is the most important.
Now specifically, it depends on her whether our water polo players will enter the fight for a medal (which they announce as a realistic goal) or whether they will declare the competition unsuccessful, because in case of defeat, they would be playing for fifth to eighth place.
The rival in the quarterfinals is Russia, which yesterday outclassed the United States of America with 15:8, the team that eliminated this same Montenegrin team in the round of XNUMX last year at the European Games in Baku.
"You saw Russia, they defeated the Americans quite convincingly. Now is the right opportunity to get revenge for the defeat from last year at the European Games. The Russians have shown that they are working more and more seriously, that they are slowly returning to the world stage. They are a quality team, physically stronger from us, they swim very well and from that side they have an advantage. We, however, have our trump cards and we believe that we will show them in the quarterfinals and that we are in an advantage," said coach Veljko Uskoković and added:
"I think we are a better team than a year ago, we managed to create a healthy atmosphere, we play well... I believe that in defense we will be at the level of the match with the Hungarians. We have time to analyze Russia even better, which has quality individuals, but I think is a more important team here. In my opinion, we are a better team than them," Uskoković pointed out.
Goalkeeper Petar Tešanović skipped the match with Brazil due to the virus...
"Tešanović is recovering, I hope he will be ready for the match. He still has some minor injuries and illnesses, but the medical team is doing everything to make the team complete," added the Montenegrin coach.
One of the guys who endured the elimination from Russia the hardest last year is Nikolas Saveljić. He claims that it is the right moment for revenge.
"We expected Russia in the quarterfinals. For us, this is the most important match in the tournament, because it is to be or not to be, but revenge is served cold. The Russians eliminated us from the European Games last year, we have not forgotten that. And we are more than motivated to give them let's pay back for that failure. We try to learn something from every defeat, and I think we learned the most from that one," said Saveljić.
