Jadran Carine opened the final playoff series against Budva with a 12:5 victory and made it clear how the duels between the two best Montenegrin teams in the fight for the title should proceed.
Simply put, Novljan has everything they need to defend the trophy, and Budva remains to offer even greater uncertainty in the next games (there will be at least two more) than was the case tonight.
Jadran took the lead with 5:0, Budva reduced it to 5:2, later at 6:3 it had several attempts to return to the match, which was played at the open pool in Škver, but the home goalkeeper Slaven Kandić was up to the task.
In the third quarter, the advantage of Vladimir Gojković's team increased further (it was 10:4), so in the last eight minutes we mostly saw work done by both sides.
Nikola Moskov, Aleksa Ukropina, Miroslav Ranđić and Stefan Vidović led Jadran with two goals each, and Blažo Mitrović had the same effect on the other side.
The second game of the final will be played on Saturday in Budva, and the third is scheduled for May 3 in Herceg Novi.
If necessary, the fourth and fifth matches would be played on May 14 and 16, respectively.
