Miloš Šćepanović will be among the 13 players who will represent Montenegro at the European Championship in Budapest, decided water polo coach Ranko Perović.
The goalkeeper of Galatasaray was under a big question mark due to an injury to the hip labrum (cartilage that connects the femur and pelvic bone), but after rehabilitation in Pula, his condition improved, so Perović broke and included him on the list.
The popular Šćepo, the hero of Montenegrin water polo's greatest success (the European title in Malaga six years ago), has skipped only one major competition since the establishment of the national team, namely the European Championship in Zagreb in 2010.
The coach at the time, Petar Porobić, preferred Zdravko Radić and Denis Šefik in Croatia...
"It wasn't easy to make a decision. I hope it's the best one, we'll see. We had problems with the lineup all summer, it seems that it had to be like that at the end of the preparations," said Perović.
The selector also added that the third goalkeeper of the Sharks, Dejan Lazović, will travel with the team to Budapest tomorrow, as support for Šćepanović and Radić.
Nikola Murišić and Jovan Sarić dropped from the wider list, which means that Montenegro will play in Hungary with: Zdravko Radić, Miloš Šćepanović, Draško Brguljan, Vjekoslav Pasković, Antonio Petrović, Darko Brguljan, Uroš Čučković, Mlađan Janović, Nikola Janović, Aleksandar Ivović, Saša Mišić, Filip Klikovac and Predrag Jokić.
Čučkovic, who played in the final tournaments of the World League this summer and the previous one, is a debutant in major competitions...
Montenegro will play the first match of the tournament on Monday against Greece.
