It seems that the club season in water polo will not start calmly, on the contrary...
A new marriage is on the horizon, and the actors are "old acquaintances" and sports "friends" - Primorac and Budva. The bone of contention was the move to the neighborhood of Miljan Popović and Nikola Marković, which led to the Kotoran rebellion.
Interestingly, the dust arose only now, right before the start of the season, and not the moment when Popović and Marković got their contracts terminated, nor the moment when they both signed three-year contracts with Budva.
Because of all this, Popović addressed the "Vijesti" editorial office:
"I submitted a request for termination of the contract on April 4, because Primorac did not fulfill the obligations contained in the contract. At the time of submitting the request, the club owed me a total of five monthly salaries, which met the conditions for termination of the contract. We received the final decision of the Arbitration Court of VPSCG , which determined the termination of the aforementioned contract. Based on this final decision, I entered into negotiations with interested clubs regarding further involvement and reached an agreement with Budva, with whom I signed a contract and where I have been preparing for several weeks," said Popović, but there not the end:
"After some time, information appeared that Primorac wants to file an appeal against the termination decision, which is completely absurd, because at the end of the decision it is clearly written that it is final," adds Popović.
He believes that all this points to what he says are behind-the-scenes operations.
"Especially since we knew that the commissioner of the VPSCG competition had insight into the final decision of the Arbitration Court, and that he apparently succumbed to pressure not to register me for Budva, even though all the necessary conditions for that had been met".
If he is not registered for Budva in the next few days, the consequences could be enormous.
"If it happens that the commissioner does not approve my registration for Budva, it is certain that I would miss the current competitive season and permanently jeopardize my career and existence due to the vanity of the leaders of Primorje who do not accept the fact that I changed the environment in accordance with the law and regulations of the VPSCG". Popović pointed out.
In the end, the only logical question is asked, and it does not put either Budva or Primorje in the foreground. Actually, the most can be reflected on the national team - in whose interest is it that Popović and Marković, as leaders of the new young generations in Montenegrin water polo (both 21 years old, participated in the final tournament of the World League this summer), only about 15 days before the start season they fear whether they will play it at all?
Does this mean that the national team is under attack again, is it threatened to lose the war with the clubs again as in the recent past? The Federation is on the move, and it has to make a move, or Montenegrin water polo will burst for the umpteenth time.
