Both of them squandered their chance in the Cup (the trophy was taken by Jadran), so they see the championship as their last chance - Budva and Primorac will start the final playoff series on April 29, which they see as the salvation of the season.
From the start, Budva is the first favorite in the domestic framework, and it justified its quality in the Adriatic League, where it played in the final four, while Primorac, if it loses this final after the one in the Cup, could be the loser of the season...
"We accept the role of favorite and I believe we will justify it. I think we are the best team in the country, but we have to prove it in the water. I expect difficult games with Primorje, which has already caused us problems this season," said Budva defender Dragan Drašković.
These two teams have played four matches so far in the season - Budva won twice, Primorac won once, with a draw.
"They were eliminated in the semi-finals of the Cup, but I think that a lot has changed since then. We are playing much better as the season goes on, and in the last few months we have been in really great shape. This gives us the right to believe in this trophy, but it also obliges us. The pressure is on us, because it would not be good to end the season without a trophy," said Drašković and hinted at uncertainty:
"We'll see, it doesn't matter if we play two or three games. It's important that we only think about the first one to come. We're going for a triumph at home and then in Kotor, there's no doubt about that," added Drašković.
The captain of Primorje Marko Gopčević was still under the impression of the semifinals and the clash in the Bokele derby.
"We are especially motivated by the matches with Jadran, we won two tough matches and deservedly won the final. Now we have a few days left to rest and prepare for the final series," said Gopčević.
The two camps agree on one thing - Budva is the favorite in this final.
"They are the favourites, it's clear that the quality is on their side, but we're not giving up. Our chance may be relief, but we're playing the second final of the season, the first one we already lost to Jadran in the Cup, and we all want to change things now. Title would be a really fantastic success. Budva? We proved that we know how to play with them, but they are a more compact team now than they were then. They also have the advantage of the home pool, although that doesn't necessarily mean anything," said one of the more experienced members of the Kotor team.
The first match of the final will be played on April 29, the second is scheduled for May 2, and the eventual champion is scheduled for May 6.
