The water polo national team of Montenegro will play tonight (19 p.m.) in Kotor against Hungary in the last round of the European qualifiers for the World League.
After the withdrawal of Romania, with the agreement of the two Federations and FINA, it was decided that the two national teams will play a rematch in Montenegro, after which it will be known who will advance to the final quarter-final tournament of European qualifications for the World League.
If, therefore, it had been as planned, Montenegro and Hungary would not have played tonight, but with the withdrawal of Romania, it was decided that the two national teams would play another match.
In the first match in Djer, Hungary won 14:9.
"We are looking forward to this match. A great opportunity for a rematch, and to get in some extra fun because of the busy summer that awaits us. We use every chance to get along as well as possible and meet our obligations in the summer in the best possible way. Our trump card is exceptional energy, strong swimming and a strong counterattack. I hope that we will be able to match them", said Dušan Matković in the announcement of the match.
Montenegrin water polo coach Vladimir Gojković announced earlier that he will try more candidates, and the young forces are expected to fight for a place in the team before two major competitions this year - the World Championship in Budapest and the European Championship in Split.
By the way, the "Sharks" have not played in Kotor for a long time, so today's duel with the Hungarians will also have that symbolic significance due to the performance in one of the two Montenegrin water polo centers.
"A good chance for a rematch. We will play in front of full stands in Kotor. One of the first important matches in Kotor after many years. A good atmosphere, our good game and victory against Hungary is expected. We did everything necessary to enter the duel ready", said Savo Ćetković.
