The water polo team of Montenegro lost tonight in Kotor to Hungary 16:11 (3:3, 7:2, 4:4, 2:2) in the last round of European qualifications for the World League.
After this match, it is clear that the Hungarians will go from the first place and the "sharks" from the second place to the final quarter-final tournament of European qualifications for the World League. Montenegro will face France or Spain in the quarter-finals.
Tonight was decided by a bad second quarter, but also by a bad defense. In the second quarter, "Sharks" conceded as many as seven goals, scoring two, so at halftime Hungary had a five-goal advantage - 10:5.
Montenegro took a 2:0 lead at the beginning, it was also 3:1, and then at the end of the first and in the second quarter, there was a 6:0 run by the Hungarians and a big five-goal advantage at halftime.
In the third quarter there was a maximum of plus six (12:6), and after that the "sharks" came close to four goals behind on several occasions.
The most effective in the national team of Montenegro were Vlado Popadić and Savo Ćetković with two goals each.
