Primorac showed its teeth to Jadran, played phenomenally just three days after being flatly defeated in Herceg Novi in the first match of the final playoff series for water polo players.
There was no dilemma in the "Zoran Džimi Gopčević" swimming pool - wondered the team of Ranko Perović who celebrated 6:4.
The impression was more convincing than the result, because Novljan scored the first goal only two minutes before the end of the third quarter - then they reduced the score to 3:1.
"An extremely difficult match is behind us, first of all on the physical level. We analyzed the mistakes from Herceg Novi, changed some segments of the game to some extent - we reduced Jadran to a positional attack and that eventually gave a result. Now we turn to the next match which, according in my opinion, to be one of the most difficult, if not the most difficult in this final series," said Primorje defender Dušan Matković.
The home team led 6:1, Jadran only softened the defeat in the finish.
"As I said before the beginning of the series - every game will be extremely difficult. After an excellent game at Škver, tonight from the start everything went in a direction that was not good for us. We didn't use some of our chances, and then it became clear that the players and a little tired. I expect that in the third game we will be at the level and achieve a triumph that would bring us closer to the title," Jadran coach Petar Radanović pointed out.
Aljoša Mačić was a three-time scorer in Primorac, Marko Mršić scored twice, and Marko Gopčević scored once.
At Jadran, two goals were scored by Uroš Vučurović, one each by Marko Petković and Matija Sladović.
The third game of the final will be played on Tuesday in Herceg Novi.
The champion will be the team that reaches three victories.
