The water polo national team of Montenegro is waiting for the start of the World Championship in Hungary in a little less than a month (June 21).
The situation has changed, the "sharks" do not go to major competitions with great ambitions, but the young team is also burning with the desire to prove itself.
That's how it was at the final tournament of the World League in Podgorica, and that's how it will be in Budapest, and also in Split at the European Championship at the end of August.
"I have a very successful season behind me in the Šabac cap and I came motivated to the preparations. We are a young team, at a new beginning, but the World Cup in itself inspires and I believe that we will show ourselves in the right light," said center Savo Ćetković.
Hungary has always been a special inspiration.
"We know what kind of audience there is, what kind of team the Hungarians are, and this is a real opportunity to prove it. It could hardly have been more difficult, but such a rival gives us additional motivation," Ćetković pointed out.
The national team trains in Herceg Novi, and from Sunday to Tuesday they will stay in Podgorica, where they will have a sparring match with Marseille.
"We will benefit from sparring with the French. It is a strong team, which is preparing for the final tournament of the Champions League, and for this moment it is the right team for training," added Ćetković.
Vlado Popadić can't wait for the World Cup to start.
"This summer is like that, we have the World and European Championships in just two and a half months. It will be very difficult, especially at the WC, where the host Hungary is waiting for us in the group. Preparations are going well, I am sure that we will be ready for the competition," said Popadić .
Montenegro will play in the WC group with Hungary, Brazil and Georgia.
