The junior water polo team of Montenegro was surprisingly eliminated in the quarter-finals of the World Championship, which is being played in Belgrade.
The U18 selection was defeated in the quarterfinals by the Netherlands 12:7.
It was expected that the young "sharks", who won the first place in the group and directly placed among the eight, would continue their journey in the fight for medals.
The Dutch, however, after an even game in the first two quarters (5:5), dominated. They won the third 4:1 and seemed to shock the Montenegrin players.
Two goals for Montenegro were scored by Baštric, one each by Vučković, Stupar, Krivokapić, Vladan and Lazar Vukićević.
With the Dutch, Hareman was great with four goals from four shots.
Montenegro now faces a battle for placing from 5th to 9th place, and the first rival tomorrow from 17:30 is the selection of Croatia. The second pair is Italy - Greece.
Hungary - Spain and Serbia - Netherlands will meet in the semi-finals.
