Former international water polo referee and long-time general secretary of the Water Polo and Swimming Association of Montenegro, Dejan Adžić, died today after a short illness, VPSCG announced.
Adžić was the commissioner for water polo in VPSCG in recent years.
"Dejan was a respected water polo player, international referee, general secretary and commissioner for water polo," states the message of the VPSCG signed by the president Đuro Marić.
"With the untimely death of our member, the water polo and swimming community has lost a loyal and faithful official and colleague, who will be long remembered".
Adžić went through all the junior selections of the home club Primorje, he was also a representative of the youth selections of the former Yugoslavia, and as a player he also played for Crvena Zvezda and Budva.
"His passion for water polo after his playing career was manifested by acting as a water polo referee, where he showed great potential and very quickly found himself on the list of international water polo referees. He refereed at many important water polo competitions, at the European Championship in 2006, matches and tournaments of the World League, world and European championships of youth categories, and he served "justice" at the first official water polo match of the Montenegrin national team, against Italy, played in Trieste on December 19.12.2006, XNUMX," states VPSCG.
"After his career as a referee, he became a delegate and controller at water polo matches, and since February 2018, he has held the position of commissioner for water polo competitions in VPSCG".
The Water Polo and Swimming Association of Montenegro and the Municipality of Kotor will hold a commemorative session on Friday starting at 11 a.m. in the Palace of Byzantium (hall of the Municipal Assembly) in the Old Town of Kotor.
