When it comes to water polo, you can always expect the unexpected, so the year 2024 will probably be unique in the world of sports.
The three biggest water polo competitions - the European Championship, the World Championship and the Olympic Games - will be held in the same year, and the corona virus is to blame for everything, which is why the World Cup, which is being held these days in Fukuoka, was first moved from 2021 to 2022, and then to 2023.
Because of this, the world championship in water sports in Doha, which was scheduled for this year, had to be moved to 2024.
The "crazy" year for Montenegrin water polo players (provided they secure a place in all three competitions) will begin on the third day of 2024, when the European Championship will be held in Netanya, Israel.
Just one month later, on February 2, the World Championships in Doha are scheduled, and then the Olympic Games in Paris will take place in July.
What is perhaps good for the "sharks" at this moment is the fact that if they do not beat European champions Croatia on Sunday in the round of XNUMX of the World Cup, they will have several more opportunities to qualify for the Olympic Games.
The European Championship in Netanya brings only one ticket to Paris, but the World Cup in Doha brings four.
Of course, before all that, they will have to fight for Doha, and in Qatar from Fukuoka - in addition to the already safe Spain and Italy - four other best teams are going. After that, as the last chance for that World Cup, there remains the EP in Netanya, from which four teams will go to Doha.
