On paper, perhaps an easier opponent than Croatia, but also a rival that has been one of the most complicated for the water polo players of Montenegro in recent years.
Tuesday is the day for the quarter-final matches at the World Championship in Fukuoka, and the "sharks" against "Helen" (eight o'clock our time) want to continue their dream of medals, but probably revenge for the painful defeats in the last two matches at major competitions.
Two years ago, the Greeks won 10:4 in the quarterfinals at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, and then last summer at the European Championship in Split in the playoff for placing from 5th to 8th place (14:12).
"This is a very serious team, we must not forget that the Greeks are the current Olympic vice-champions. It is a team that has exceptional individuals, as well as exceptional young players," said Dušan Matković from Fukoka.
What could be the advantage of Montenegro.
"To open the match with the best possible swimming, to impose our rhythm and our fast game... If we can do that, we will have a good chance to win," added Matković.
Montenegro showed in the round of XNUMX against Croatia that it can play with any team in the world, and Matković also marked that match with super goals.
"The match with Croatia was an emotional rollercoaster, I'm proud of the team, especially because of the faith in the victory, which was at an incredible level. We ended the series of heavy defeats and I hope that this will give us wings to enter the next matches as strong and better as possible", said Matković.
Vlado Popadić believes that Greece is, however, a slightly easier rival than Croatia.
"This match could be a turning point, because if we win, we will go into the fight for medals and thus we would prove to ourselves that we can play at the highest level continuously, but also to other national teams that they must seriously count on us," believes Popadić.
Our water polo player certainly expects a tough match with Greece.
"They are missing the most important player, Angelos Vlahopoulos, and I think that can be a relief. I repeat, it will not be an easy match, but like against Croatia, we will go hard from the first minute," said Popadić
