The European water polo championship, which was supposed to be held in Israel in January last year, was postponed due to the war in that country.
This was announced by the European Swimming Federation (LEN).
The press release points out that it was agreed that it is not possible to hold the European Championship in Netanya, as originally planned.
In recent weeks, there has been speculation that the continental championship could be held in Budapest...
"As a consequence of the recent terrorist attacks on Israel and after extensive meetings between LEN and the Israel Water Polo Federation, both institutions have agreed that it will not be possible to host the European Championships in Netanya," LEN stated.
LEN added that they are currently exploring various options regarding the proper qualification procedure for the next World Aquatics Championships in Doha in February 2024.
