The end of the year is usually the time when the battles for the first cup are fought in Montenegro, and this year's edition of the Cup could be the most interesting in the last decade.
The capital will be water polo on Wednesday and Thursday - Podgorica and the pool of SC Morača will host the final tournament in the Cup, and regardless of the fact that Budva and Kataro will have their calculations, it is clear that everything except the new classic between Jadran and Primorje in the final will be big sensation.
Participant of the Champions League and the team defending the trophy Jadran will play against Budva in the first semi-final (Wednesday, 18:XNUMX), while the team that is at the door of the knockout stage of the Eurocup Primorac will seek the final against the city rival Qatar.
"I expect an interesting tournament, although this year the difference between Jadran and Primorje compared to their rivals is a little bigger," Novljan coach Petar Radanović said at today's press conference in Podgorica.
"I agree that the final should be Jadran - Primorac, although there must always be a dose of caution," added Zoran Maslovar, head of Primorac.
And what do the teams that are outsiders on paper think about everything...
"Our average age is around 16, so it is illusory that we threaten any team, let alone Jadran. We are at a new beginning - there is a new management, a new coach, children from our youth team, as the backbone of the team, strengthened by several young men from Herceg Novi and Kotor," says Nikola Popović, coach of Budva.
Kataro knows how hard work awaits him against the city rival, but...
"This is an opportunity for the young players to prove themselves and prove themselves against the European team. We have to enter fighting, stick to the plan and try to create a problem for the rival," said Qatar's coach Ivan Bjelobrković.
The final, which is scheduled for Thursday at 20 p.m., should bring a clash between our two biggest clubs and a duel between big rivals from the Gulf.
"Realistically, the final should be Primorac - Jadran, and that is one match, in which anything can happen, if one ball changes the course of the game. We will do our best to defend the trophy," added Radanović.
Two years ago, Primorac broke the ten-year dominance of the Adriatic in the Cup, and these players will do everything for the cup to reach the ancient city again.
"We made a step forward, I think that the expected final will bring a great fight, that it will be an interesting and uncertain duel, in front of, I believe, full stands and in a real water polo atmosphere. Our desire is to win, but it is not imperative. If we get a chance, we will try to win the trophy." , Maslovar is clear.
