Montenegrin water polo players opened the "Sardinia Cup" tournament in Cagliari with a victory, as they defeated Australia 8:6.
The Australians started better, and before the goal for 1:0, Petar Tešanović saved a five-point shot from Luka Pavilar.
It was also 2:1 for the opponent, but Stefan Vidović and Vlado Popadić turned it into 3:2. At halftime it was 3:3, and Vidović and Popadić with two more goals at the beginning of the 3rd quarter gave the Sharks a plus two goal lead for the first time.
Vidović and Jovan Vujović, who were in a good mood, brought a plus three (8:5) at the beginning of the last period.
The Australians did not take advantage of another penalty - Lahlan Edwards shot over the goal, on which Dejan Lazović replaced Tesanović at halftime, and Montenegro defended the advantage without any problems.
Vladimir Gojković's team will play against France tomorrow at 18 p.m., and the tournament will close on Thursday with a duel with Italy (19 p.m.).
