VPSCG on the Ukropina case: Our medical team educated the players, we were not allowed to inform the public until the end of the procedure

The Water Polo and Swimming Federation of Montenegro (VPSCG) announced about the doping test of Aleksa Ukropina and announced that it was not allowed to inform the public about this case.

As they state, the reason for this is the fact that the procedure until the moment of release from responsibility or sentencing is declared strictly confidential by the International Anti-Doping Agency.

The left-handed water polo player was tested on January 21, just before leaving for Trebinje to start preparations for the World Championship in Doha, and he "failed" because of the inhalation drug.

VPSCG confirmed in a statement that there is a violation of anti-doping regulations at Ukropina, when sampling during the days of the break after the European Championship, and before the start of preparations for the tournament in Qatar.

"All water polo national team members know very well that they have responsible and professional persons with whom, at any time, day or night, they can check whether or not they are allowed to consume any medicine, as well as that the medical team has advised and educated them on all these issues", say VPSCG.

How seriously VPSCG works on these issues, as they state, only one fact is enough, that at the seminar of water polo coaches in December, this was one of the topics presented by the National Anti-Doping Commission.

"Our focus now is to help Aleksa find a legal team that will together give us guidance in the evidentiary procedure and in accordance with the aforementioned, VPSCG will no longer advertise on this matter until the end of the procedure", they concluded from VPSCG.
