The water polo year, which at the start brought two major national team competitions, continues with club duties - in Montenegro already from Wednesday.
More precisely, it will be the beginning of the new season of the Montenegrin championship, and as in previous years, it will consist of four well-known teams - Jadran, Primorac, Budva and Kataro.
As announced by the Water Polo and Swimming Association after the results in the Regional Leagues (Premier and A1), the games will be played according to the one-on-one system, at home and away.
"Jadran, as the only participant in the Premier League, starts the Montenegrin championship with four points, Primorac, as the best-placed Montenegrin team in the A1 league, starts with three, Kataro with two, and Budva with one point," VPSCG explained.
And, the first round on Wednesday will bring the Kotor derby between Primorje and Qatar at 18 p.m., while Jadran and Budva will meet an hour later at Škver.
The second round is scheduled for March 2nd, and the pairs are Primorac - Budva and Kataro - Jadran, while the third round on April 2nd or 3rd will bring our biggest derby between Jadran and Primorac.
After six rounds of the league part of the Montenegrin championship, there will be a playoff for the final ranking - the two best teams from the league part of the competition will meet for first place and the championship crown. The playoff final will be played in three games won.
Jadran has been the "on-call" champion since 2014, when it snatched the cup from Budva - in total, Novljan was the best in Montenegro for the 12th time, while Primorac and Budva each have two championship crowns.
