What a reinforcement for Jadran - one of the best water polo players of the last decade, Aleksandar Ivović, returned to the club where he started his great career.
Until this season, he wore the jersey of the best European club Pro Reka, where he arrived in 2010 from Škver.
The news, which is without a doubt the transfer of the year in Montenegrin water polo, was announced by Jadran.
"I returned to the pool, which arouses very strong emotions in me, and I am glad that we are talking about beautiful water polo things. I arrived in Herceg Novi to finish my career," said Ivović.
Although he is already in his late years, it is clear that the long-time member of the national team of Montenegro and the man who won the Champions League five times will be a great reinforcement for Novalja.
"I'm glad that the situation has developed in a way that concerns my health and the club's management, which has been trying to bring me back for years... I'm very happy that my journey ends this way," added Leka.
And that's the right way to complete your career, Ivović added.
"Yes, I returned to the country and the club where I grew up and I hope to contribute to the team, especially in the domestic championship where we want to return the title - which is our main ambition," Ivović pointed out.
When it comes to Europe, Jadran expect qualification for the Champions League...
"Of course, if we get the chance, we want to go as far as possible".
Before him, Jadran brought in Đorđe Lazić, Dimitrij Obradović and Vuk Milojević this summer, while the contracts of national team players Vasilije Radović, Jovan Vujović, and goalkeeper Darko Đurović were extended.
"We can be very satisfied with how the transition period was handled," concluded Ivović.
In 2010, Leka moved from Jadran to Pro Reko, he was briefly (2012 and 2013) in Jugo from Dubrovnik, after which he returned to Genoa and played until this season.
The Italian giant, which dominated European water polo for decades, was left this summer by the long-time first man Gabriele Volpi and the main sponsor Orlean invest, and the players are allowed to leave the club if they wish.
