With a big turnaround in the last quarter, the junior (U-19) water polo team of Montenegro defeated Spain in the control match in Kotor - 11:10 (4:5, 1:4, 2:1, 4:0).
The young "sharks", who are preparing for the European Championship, where the Spaniards will be rivals in the group stage in Burgas, celebrated with a great game in the last quarter.
The guests in Kotor had a four-goal advantage after two quarters, and before the last eight minutes they were leading 10:7.
In the final period, our team played masterfully, tying the score at 10:10 three minutes and 10 seconds before the end, and in the next attack, Draško Samardžić scored for the turnaround and victory, because there were no goals until the end of the match.
Draško Samardžić and Srđan Janović each scored three goals, Danilo Stupar, Strahinja Gojković, Miloš Milinić, Tim Perov and Meldin Hadžić scored one each.
The U-19 European Championship takes place in Burgas (Bulgaria) from September 1 to 7.
The team led by Miodrag Mirović was among the eight best national teams in the draw, and will play in group A, against Croatia, Spain and Hungary.
In group B, there are Greece, Germany, Serbia and Italy. Group C consists of France, the Netherlands, Turkey and Malta, and in group D, Slovenia, Romania, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic will compete.
The two best teams from groups A and B will each qualify for the quarterfinals.
The third-placed teams from groups A and B will play in the round of XNUMX with the second-placed teams from groups C and D, while the winners of groups C and D will play against the fourth-placed teams from groups A and B to advance to the top eight.
