Water polo swimming club Primorac proposed Veljko Uskoković as the new president of the Water Polo and Swimming Association of Montenegro.
"In VPK Primorac, we believe that things must start to change as soon as possible, and therefore we publicly highlight the candidacy of our famous water polo player Veljko Uskoković for the new president of VPSCG", said Siniša Kovačević, president of the Kotor club.
In a statement from Primorje, they pointed out that changes are necessary after the Olympic Games and the expiration of the mandate of the head coach Vladimir Gojković, as well as that the current leadership of VPSCG did not have the necessary majority to hold the scheduled regular session of the Assembly of VPSCG.
"I believe that it is time to initiate necessary changes in VPSCG, because it is clear to all of us that it no longer works like this. With understanding and with the most sincere wishes for the speedy recovery of the current president of VPSCG, Đur Marić," Kovačević added.
Representatives of Primorje Siniša Kovačević, as vice-president of VPSCG and Mirza Krcić, as president of the Assembly of VPSCG, submitted their resignations from those positions due to, as they stated, dissatisfaction with the way of functioning and relations in VPSCG.
Veljko Uskoković is a water polo legend, captain of the "Sharks" in Malaga in 2008 when Montenegro became the European champion.
"We are more than sure that Mr. Uskoković will bring new energy and freshness to the work of the Association, in order to set up, coordinate and direct the system of water polo sports in Montenegro, directly and expertly monitor the work of the clubs, but also propose solutions with the aim of successful and efficient functioning VPSCG", concluded Kovačević.
The mandate of the current VPSCG leadership expires in 2026.
