A nice announcement of the new season, above all the fight for the Champions League that starts next week...
The water polo players of Jadran Mtela defeated this summer's reinforced Radnički from Kragujevac (11:9), presented a new team, and club legends Aleksandar Ivović and Vladimir Gojković triumphantly celebrated their return to Škver.
Ivović played in the cap of the club from Herceg Novi after 14 years and great success in Pro Rek, while Gojković returned to Jadran after leaving the bench of the Montenegrin national team this summer.
"It was a real men's match with a large number of duels - I congratulate the boys on a great game, I can certainly say that we looked good in the pool," said Gojković for RTVHN.
The first match of the new Jadran was marked by Dmitrij Holod and Danilo Radović with three goals each, while Vasilije Radović, Vuk Milojević, Matija Sladović, Đorđe Lazić and Uroš Vučurović scored once each.
On the other side, in the team of Uroš Stevanović, the expert who recently led Serbia to Olympic gold, Strahinja Rašović hit the net five times, Nikola Jakšić three times, while Radomir Drašović and Nemanja Stanojević each scored one goal.
Jadran will open its Champions League qualification on Thursday in Dubrovnik against Banja Luka, while its rivals in Gruž will be home team Jug, Barcelona and Dinamo from Bucharest.
Only the winner will end up in the elite and the group consisting of Barceloneta, Marseille and Vasas.
"Against Radnički, you could see the desire and unity in the team, which is looking forward to important matches in the Champions League qualifiers," added Gojković.
Aleksandar Ivović wore the Jadran cap for the first time since 2010.
"The feeling is fantastic. We played against a great opponent, which has top players in its ranks. This performance is pleasing and we hope that we will continue like that," said Ivović.
The colors of Jadran will be defended this season by Darko Đurović, Dmitrij Holod, Uroš Vučurović, Dimitrije Obradović, Jovan Vujović, Danilo Radović, Đorđe Lazić, Damjan Vujičić, Aleksandar Ivović, Matija Sladović, Vuk Milojević, Vasilije Radović and Ilija Radović.
