The previous president of the Water Polo and Swimming Association of Montenegro (VPSCG) Đuro Marić resigned from that position.
Marić has been president since May 2021, and in a statement he said that he resigned for personal reasons.
The resignation of Marić was noted at today's session of the Board of Directors of the Water Polo and Swimming Association of Montenegro (VPSCG).
"First of all, I want to congratulate the U19 national team on winning the silver medal at the European Championship. They are proof that Montenegrin water polo has always been and remains a great representative of Montenegrin sports in the world," said Marić.
He pointed out that it was a great honor for him to be the president of the VPSCG on two occasions.
"Although my mandate expires in a year and a half, for personal reasons I am resigning from this position, with the sincere desire that the future president and his team continue to develop water polo and swimming sports in Montenegro and create conditions for even better work and winning new trophies I wish the new management of the Association a lot of success in their future work, especially in the implementation of the started project of organizing the European Senior Championship in Podgorica in 2028. I would like to thank all the employees of VPSCG, the former coach and his associates, all the coaches of the national water polo and swimming teams. Board of Directors of VPSCG, sponsors, Montenegrin Olympic Committee, local self-government bodies that supported us and the Government of Montenegro", said Marić.
