Today is the day - on the condition that no big change happens, which is always possible in Montenegrin sports - the water polo and swimming association will get a new president.
Nikola Milić or Veljko Uskokovic - there are two candidates, with the fact that in recent days the former has become a serious favorite.
Milić, a 40-year-old businessman who played in the younger categories in Primorac, has the support of seven clubs, the Water Polo and Swimming Association announced after the candidacies were verified. These are Jadran Mtel, Budva - Budva Riviera, Budućnost, Akvatik verde, Mladost, Baterflaj and Nikšić.
Uskoković, on the other hand, was supported by Primorac, whose delegates at the beginning of the summer (vice president of the Siniša Kovačević and the president of the assembly Mirza Krcic) left the Alliance. Recently, the leaders of Primorje were not even satisfied with the election of the president and vice president of the assembly - Dejan Rađenović, respectively Rajko Ćupić, claiming that "there was an agreement between a couple of clubs about the candidates and at the session no one asked where the representatives of Primorje were, because they obviously didn't need us".

Two days ago, the legendary Yugoslav and Montenegrin water polo player on the Facebook social network called on the delegates of the VPSCG assembly to "get rid of fear and vote according to conscience".
"Ahead of the upcoming Electoral Assembly of the VPSCG, I want to draw attention to the fact that the development of swimming and water polo in Montenegro is at a turning point. In the last ten years, national team and club results have been far below expectations. I believe that I share the opinion of the vast majority of swimming and water polo fans in our country, and that we must be dissatisfied with the way the Association has been managed so far," Uskoković wrote.
He also had a message for his opponent.
"It is clear to everyone that my esteemed opponent is a continuation of the current leadership of the Alliance. If you want everything to remain as it was - the choice is simple", said Uskoković.
The famous ace asked the delegates to think carefully before voting:
"I want us to fight together for the future of our sports based on a broad base with the solutions that I often talk about and that I have offered in my Work Plan and Program that was submitted to the clubs and delegates of the assembly. The warning that the general sponsor will stop funding our sports in case of my victory is untrue and seems frivolous, just like those who spread these lies. Despite all the promises that are pouring in these days, I ask the delegates to think carefully, get rid of imaginary fear and vote according to their conscience", said Uskoković.
The beginning of the extraordinary Electoral Assembly is scheduled for today at 16:XNUMX p.m., and the VPSCG should get a fourth president. Srdjan Kovačević was at the helm from 2006 to 2016, Dejan Bajic from 2016 to 2020, a Djuro Marić held that position from May 2021 until the beginning of September this year, when he retired for private reasons.
And after it is known who is the president of the Association, then it will be the turn of the topic - the selector of the A national team. Namely, a successor is waiting Vladimir Gojković who left the "Shark" bench after the contract expired in August.
