The qualifications for the World Cup are over, the Montenegrin water polo players were in fourth place, and the tournament in Otopeni brought good matches, but also many more matches that the new coach Dejan Savić will have to work on.
And, the best of them was Greece, which convincingly defeated the "sharks" at the beginning (18:10) and at the end of the tournament (17:10).
"Again defeat and again a big difference. At the beginning of the game we did not manage to find ideas in the attack, later it improved a little, but it was not right either," said Vlado Popadić from Otopenia.
It is worrying that the poor performance has repeated itself in just a few days.
"We conceded too many goals, especially from the side we expected, and in the end the result is like that - too high, just like in the first match, which should not happen again," Popadić is clear.
In April, Montenegro will host the Superfinal of the World Cup, and immediately in the quarterfinals it will face a tough rival - Croatia.
"Let's move on, we want to prepare as well as possible for that duel and play as well as possible," added Popadić.
A real derby in Kotor or Budva against "Barracuda" is also expected by Bogdan Đurđić.
"We are playing against an opponent we know and it will certainly be a big quarterfinal," said the Hungarian Vaša water polo player.
The match for the third place against Greece was resolved like the first - in the second quarter when the net of our national team shook seven times.
"Already after the first half, we were out of the game, the Greeks managed to break away due to our poor play in attack. We failed to catch the connection, they scored goals, we didn't, later they maintained their advantage, they kept four or five points and that's where this whole match ends," Đurđić added.
